Most folks that farm come from a long lineage of farmers. This stands true for my family as well. Farmstead celebrates the journey of my family's farm history, starting with my Great Grandfather, Simon Cornelius Iest. He began his agricultural career running a creamery in Bathmen, Netherlands. In 1921, he moved to America with his wife and 12-year-old son, my grandfather, Rudolf Iest. There, he started several businesses but eventually began his dairy. This fostered a love of agriculture for my grandfather, father, uncles, and brothers. The prints in Farmstead celebrate agriculture from the past, my great-grandmother Johanna’s love of flowers, and tradition passed down from generations. Vintage blues, golds, reds, and earth tones create a palette perfect for any sewing project. This collection includes three panels, a farm animal blocks panel in two colorways, and a sweet farm cut-and-sew book. The five quilts in this collection also celebrate farm life and its beauty. Farmstead is my way of honouring the hard work and perseverance of the past and for all those farmers who provide so much to our world today.
